Forged Kiridashi unique Japan method blend of two materials to create laminated steel with R/H knife.

The kiridashi is a knife good for everyday use in a craftsman's workshop- Woodworking, Leather working, Bookbinding, Luthier also good for Japan Natural Stone testing.


Handmade kiridashi by a skilled artist with a focus on achieving as much detail as possible in traditional kiridashi.

The 小刀 Kiridashi Kogatana is a handy, general-purpose knife traditionally used by craftsmen in many trades in Japan.
This simple but sophisticated tool is used, without exception, by all woodworkers in Japan including carpenters, joiners, wood carvers, cabinetmakers, sashimonoshi, bamboo workers, umbrella makers and many other trades.

This kiridashi is hand forged from 26c3 super clean Sweden carbon steel carbon steel and for backing material I use mid steel.

Hand polished edge with natural stones to reach Kasumi, foggy contrast between soft iron and carbon steel.

Urasuki on flat side to easy blade maintenance.

Yasurime finish on handle is traditional technique created with file, and left marks on handle.

IMPORTANT this kiridashi is NOT made from pre-laminated steel. This knife isn`t mass production item its a piece of art, handmade by myself

Please note! This is a carbon steel knife and therefore not stainless. Unless dried after dishing it will rust, so you must use some oil to preserve it. Knife is very sharp.
